Memento
Memento is a work that Damian Sanchez composes it in occasion to commemorate the 50 years of the death of Federico Garci'a Lorca by invitation of Jose Carlos Gallardo that it had to his position, the accomplishment of the acts of commemoration in the embassy of Spain in Argentina.
They are loose songs, that speak of the childhood, the death, the love, the social thing, that is really the great subjects of Lorca. One works with musical forms of Argentina and of the American Continent, it is so there are aromas of cueca and tonadas of Cuyo, lonco meo of the Argentine south, some rhythms American center and the United States.
In the work to Choir of mixed voices, CHORALE OF SANDS, vocal quartet masculine Opus Four, solists Victor Heredia and Julia Zenko participate and, instrumental group (charango, piano, cello, bass, guitar, percussion, flute).
Damian composes this work without wanting to approach the Spanish, being left itself to take reason why it feels like man of conosur, with the own things of the continent, given by his first inhabitants, the natives, without stopping avoiding the inheritance that in its blood left its father Spanish.
That there is inside a perfume of cedar and carob tree, of will pacharán and aloja, with rhythms that being common do not seem it and being similar they are different. It takes the name of Memento by simple election of one of poems, thinking about the simpleza that Lorca has when it says in a poem " When I die, enterradme with my guitar under the sand .......... " Without thinking that someday it could put music to him to Lorca, and that was by circumstantial order, I am glad to me to have communicated with the identities of two ends, 2 times and 2 societies.
A disc is recorded where they participate the Chorale of Sands, Julia Zenko, Victor Heredia, Opus Four, Jose Carlos Gallardo in 1997.
